How to Maintain Transport Refrigeration Units in Summer

The Summer days are coming, so is the peak period for using transport refrigeration units. At this time, the maintenance of refrigeration unit is the top priority. If the poor heat dissipation of the refrigerated truck unit cannot be dealt with in time, it is easy to cause many failures, even vicious failures. Here we summerize some tips for maintenance of transport refrigeration units in the hot summer day.

1. Regular cleaning of refrigerated truck refrigeration system

Clean the heat dissipation system of the truck regularly, preferably twice a year. And every spring and summer when the catkins disappear in the spring and summer, the engine water tank is removed from the truck for a thorough cleaning, and the entire refrigeration system is comprehensively inspected, so that hidden troubles can be eliminated.

2. When the temperature is too high, please try to park in the shade

In summer, the truck is exposed to the scorching sun, and the body temperature will be much higher than usual, especially the temperature of the water tank and the engine will be greatly increased. Excessive engine temperature will damage the cylinder head gasket, burn out the bearing bush, and cause mechanical accidents. In order to prevent the engine temperature from being too high, the following points should be noted:

  1). Add enough cooling water.

  2). Check whether the thermostat is normal. If the thermostat cannot open the large valve in time according to the regulations, it must be replaced with a new thermostat in time. If it cannot be replaced with a new one in time, the thermostat can be temporarily removed. Never place a defective thermostat at the outlet of the water jacket.

  3). Park in a cool place as much as possible and pay attention to the indication reading of the water temperature meter while driving, and the temperature should not exceed 95℃. In special circumstances, the engine hood can be lifted to facilitate ventilation and heat dissipation.

3. Cleaning evaporator and condenser in time.

  1). Use a small brush to clean up debris from top to bottom when cleaning the condenser. Then rinse the surface of the condenser with clean water. It is best to use a pressurized water gun. The pressure should not be too high. During cleaning, black dirty water will flow out of the condenser shell. When the water flowing out is relatively clean, the condenser is cleaned. Check whether there is debris in the gap between the condenser fan and the box panel, and clean it up in time. The above actions must be performed after the cold equipment is turned off.

  2). Most of the evaporators are made of inner grooved copper tube & aluminum fin, and the distance between the fins is generally between 3-6mm. It is relatively simple to clean. It can be cleaned directly with a water gun and a brush.

4. Pre-cooling the refrigerated trucks in advance

The function of transport refrigeration units are to maintain the temperature of the goods, not to cooling the temperature of the goods. In Summer, truck body is like an oven. If the truck body is not pre-cooled before loading, the goods will be heated by the hot air and the truck panels at the first time, and the temperature of the goods will rise, and it is impossible to cool down temperature use a truck refrigeration unit, the recommended steps are as follows:

  1). Open the truck body door and swing the door to let the outside air enter the body and circulate several times to exhaust the hot air.

  2). Before closing the door, turn on the refrigeration unit for 5 minutes, let the evaporator fan work to produce air convection, and better discharge the hot air. At the same time, let the cold equipment adapt to the ambient temperature.

  3). Close the truck body door, setting the engine speed to about 2000 rpm, and turn on refrigeration unit to per-cooling temperature to the required temperature of goods, and then turn off.

5. Check whether spare parts are normal

  1). Check whether the belt or bracket screws are loose. If the belt is loose, there will be a sharp rubbing sound at high speeds. If the screws are loose, there will be a creaking metal collision sound, after turn off truck engine and truck refrigeration unit, use tools to fix compressor bracket and belt.

  2). Observe whether the surface of low pressure pipe from the compressor is cold. Generally, there will be water droplets or a wet feeling on the pipe fitting t of the compressor or the outer wall of the connecting pipe. If it is hot, please report for repair in time.
