Cold chain logistics has entered a stage of rapid development and the market for new energy refrigerated trucks is expanding.

Therefore, the sales of refrigerated trucks have been continuously increasing. According to the data of the Cold Chain Committee of the China Federation, the number of refrigerated trucks in my country will reach 275,000 in 2020, an increase of 28.1% from 214,700 in 2019.

As an important transport equipment of cold chain logistics, refrigerated trucks are used for maintain the temperature of frozen or fresh goods. Refrigerated trucks are equipped with transport refrigeration equipment and polyurethane insulation truck body. Refrigerated trucks can be classified by manufacturer, chassis loading capacity, compartment type, and cooling method. According to different refrigeration methods, refrigerated trucks can be divided into mechanical refrigerated trucks, frozen plate refrigerated trucks, liquid nitrogen refrigerated trucks, dry ice refrigerated trucks, and ice-cold refrigerated trucks, among which mechanical refrigerated trucks are the most common.

From the perspective of vehicle fuel types, diesel trucks are the most popular in refrigerated trucks, and there is up-gradable space in new energy power trucks. In 2020, the sales of diesel refrigerated trucks accounted for nearly 90%, occupying an absolute monopoly. The above chart shows that in the sales structure of refrigerated trucks in 2020: diesel trucks for nearly 90% (89.5%), occupying an absolute monopoly position, mainly due to diesel power is the strong and economical. Gasoline accounts for less than 10% (9.07%), mainly because mainly is light-duty and miniature refrigerated trucks. Gas accounts for 0.745% (mainly heavy-duty refrigerated vehicles), which are mainly distributed in areas with abundant natural gas resources.

New energy (mainly light-duty pure electric) accounts for only 0.68%. It may be that the current battery technology development has encountered bottlenecks, the cruising range is limited, and the charging is inconvenient, customers are worried about new energy trucks is off in the transport. In addition, the thermal stability of the battery is poor, and the safety hazards of new energy refrigerated trucks still exist. Therefore, most of the end customers are currently not too fond of new energy refrigerated trucks.

In recent years, the country has issued a number of policies related to refrigerated trucks to support the standardization and green development of refrigerated trucks. The country has also vigorously promoted the consumption and use of new energy trucks. However, in order to promote the survival of the fittest in the industry, the subsidy standard for new energy trucks has been lowered. Due to the impact of the epidemic in 2020, cold chain logistics is facing severe practical tests. In October 2020, the National Health Commission and the General Administration of Market Supervision issued the "National Food Safety Standard Food Cold Chain Logistics Hygiene Standards" (GB31605-2020), which It is the first mandatory national standard for food cold chain logistics, and industry norms will continue to be strengthened.

With the continuous expansion of my country's cold chain logistics market, including rural logistics, there is a huge consumer market for refrigerated trucks. And under the guidance of national policies, my country's new energy refrigerated electric trucks may usher in a new round of development opportunities. In addition, more and more traditional car companies are shifting their business focus to electric trucks. The development of new energy refrigerated electric trucks is the battery for the development of new energy refrigerated electric vehicles. Further breakthroughs in battery life, charging and other issues will surely bring more desirable new energy refrigerated trucks to the market.
